  1. Posture and poise
  2. Rushing the music, especially closing the feet too quickly
  3. Clarity of intention with timing
  4. Footwork faults, especially omitting left foot heel leads or ending figures with a heel lead
  5. Unarticulated foot/ankle action and releasing contact with the floor
  6. Anticipating turns with the leading foot.
    The second step of all turns is forward. Turn left with the right foot; turn right with the left foot.
  1. Lacking attacking, decisive movement. Commit.
  2. Initiating CBM too late
  3. Insufficient overbalancing/metronomic swing
  4. Lack of effective practice principles
  5. Inflexibility within the frame, especially the back, or conversely, breaking within the frame
  6. Lack of coordination of the two oppositional alignments: Head/feet to left; body turned to right toward partner
  7. Inadequate lowering/peaking
  8. Lack of emotion: Dancing only from the outside in or inside out
  9. Lack of power/initiative from the follower (forward and backward)
  10. Under dancing on the insides of turns (“wet sock on the inside of the dryer”)
  11. Lacking flow: Stay on and use the standing leg longer and be intentional in creating liquid movement
  12. Unfocused or misdirected gaze
  13. Ignorance
  14. Misplaced priorities
