Gold Samba Routine up to Natural Roll (fig 14)

Technique

  1. If continuing from a turn to turn the same direction: Underturn;

If the following turn is in the opposite direction: Overturn.

Ex: Lady’s Spot Volta should be underturned because the Corta Jaca which follows also turns to the right.

  1. Use S’s and Q’s sparingly. Numbers create better musicality. Ex: Reverse Roll is 1 (2) 34, not SQQ.

Gold Waltz: Add Fallaway Reverse and Open Telemark in corner (figs. 14-15).

Bronze Waltz: Review Double Reverse Spin

Quickstep: Sides 3 and 4 to complete the bronze routine!

Jive: Review Bronze routine

  1. Follower uses double spotting on American Spin
  2. Rotate hip out on back rocks
  3. Keep head isolated and level throughout the jive.

Rumba/Cha Cha: Alemana from Fan Position to end of routines.

Samba: Shadow Position Section

  1. Volta to Left                           1a2a3a4
  2. Two Bota Fogos                     1a2 1a2
  3. Volta to Right                         1a2a3a4

Silver Quickstep: Review Routine

  1. Keep weight on pivot step on step four of Running Right Turn as long as possible.
  2. Leaders: Lead partner outside to start Running Finish by angling body.

Foxtrot: Natural Weave (to teach leaders to lead followers outside partner)             SQQ QQQQ

  1. Leader pulls the front toe on all back steps except left toe on last back step.
  2. Follower has her usual three consecutive toe steps on Weaves.
  3. Use strong hip swing in three different directions on this one figure.

Tango: Review the three consecutive line figures at end of Twist Turn.

Remember: Her head is the top of her spine and switches whenever the leader changes the pitch of her spine.

Jive

  1. Change of Places R to L with Lady’s Spin     1,2 3a4 3a4
  2. Overturned Change of Place L to R                1,2 3a4 3a4
  3. Flick Ball Change to Whip                              3a4 3a4 1,2 3a4

Jive Technique

  1. Flick Ball Change is about the preparation: knee up before the flick
  2. Keep a constant tic in the supporting knee (keep the rhythm going) in the Flick Ball Change
  3. Keep the head level (no bouncing) throughout the Jive.

Newcomers Waltz

  1. Start with a prep step on 3.
  2. Leader turns the Whisk ¼ to left to turn corners.

Quickstep: Review Tipple Chasse to Right and start dance with a prep step on 4

Tango: New Group 1

  1. Two Walks                 SS
  2. Progressive Link         QQ
  3. Closed Promenade      SQQS

Cha Cha

  1. Twist hips on Three Cha Cha Chas
  2. Keep pressure in the balls of both feet constantly.
  3. Do not bounce. Keep the head perfectly level.
