Advanced Latin: Linked Arm Walks in R/C/S/J

Cha Cha (Walk, Walk, Lock)

  1. Keep space between partners to fulfill, feel and work with the connection.
  2. Three Areas of the Body: Intellectual (Head, hands, feet), Emotional (Torso) and Passionate (Pelvis) Each culture emphasizes one of these areas most.
  3. Dance your back means at least three things: Energize the posture, rotate the back, slide the back laterally (typewriter)
  4. Free arm and hand are connected to an invisible ballet barre.
  5. Straighten the knee before the foot arrives on each step.
  6. Definition of “grounded:” Keep pressure in the balls of both feet at all times.

Quickstep: Quarter Turn to R (SQQS and Progressive Chasse (SQQS)

Spirals require a small step, with turnout as preparation, and occur on count one, usually.

Intermediate Standard

Three Components to Leading a Heel Turn: Complete the rise on step one, tripod foot position on step two, and pick up a hip.

Waltz

  1. Underturned Natural Spin Turn (Small step 4, Large Step 5)
  2. $-6 Reverse Turn
  3. Double Reverse Spin
  4. Open Telemark
  5. Chasse from PP

Foxtrot

  1. Feather Step                                        SQQ
  2. Open Telemark                                   SQQ
  3. Feather Ending                                    SQQ
  4. Hover Telemark                                  SQQ
  5. Feather, commenced outside partner  SQQ

The follower opens to PP when the figure turns to the right (Progressive Link, Whisk).

The leader turns to PP when the figure turns to the left (Open Telemark)
